Hi, I am running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I just bought an apple TV so I was wondering which software update do I have a to do to be abble to connect my computer screen/sound directly to the applte TV?
Because I saw to update to Mountain Lion I may have to go first through OS X lion?

You do not have to install OS X 10.7 Lion to get OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. If your system will support Mountain Lion, you can upgrade directly. The system requirements and procedure can be found here:

Note, however, that even with Mountain Lion, your system may still not fully support AirPlay to your Apple TV. See:
