No. It simply means that the phone is a phone that apple has sent a replacement for... in other words someone turned that phone in because it was faulty for another one...
Replacement is what happens when a phone is under warranty and someone needs another one..
Some phones are refurbished and it could simply be an err in the system... if your phone was purchased legally thru a carrier or othr means then contact Apple Support and it can be sorted out fairly easy.
What carrier did you buy it from? Are they on this list? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If they are on that list and you have the original receipt from them showing the serial number, they may be able to correct the error in the Apple database.
If they're not on that list, you were sold a black market phone.
Yeap matches... only thing is at apple support can't register and prompted that my product has been replaced
Picture a busy Genius Bar in a hectic retail environment. In all the hubub, the defective iPhone never makes the trip back to the factory, but ends up at iFixit in a strip mall and subsequently in a for sale ad on CraigsList. Hypothetical? Sure!
😟 I bought the iPhone like more than a year ago.... recently bought another Apple product and was just trying to add on my Apple products to the list under my Apple support... then realized the iPhone cannot be registered. delayed realization I must say... Even if I go back to the telco now not sure if they will even entertain me cos the warranty shd be over.
That means the device was resold illegally. It was either replaced by Apple, and the original was not returned or stolen in route, or it was logged as stolen or lost.
Then what should I do? I encountered the same problem but my phone was new from the Telco

Go back to the telco you got it from and work it out with them.
yes on the list... was just looking at the receipt... only imei but the serial not shown....
You can find the serial number in settings>general>about
yeap i managed to get the Serial but it's not printed on the receipt.... only the imei is printed...
Check in settings>general>about and the you will find the IMEI of the phone, make sure it matches the IMEI on the receipt.
