Is there a way to keep listening to YouTube videos while I'm using other applications on my iPad?

I believe that this functionality was available prior to iOS 6, but does not appear to be now. I have seen no way to do this.

Yup the native Youtube App contained in iOS versions prior to 6 could be left to play in the backgroud.

The new Google provided App does not have this feature for some reason.

There are however other Apps in the store that do, such as Youplayer.

I'll take wild guess and say it's because of some API that the original Apple supplied app had access to but third party apps don't.
