You cannot yourself deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can authorize a total of up to five systems, so unless you've hit that limit it's probably not really important that you deauthorize your dead unit now. If you really want to deauthorize that system now, you can go into your iTunes Store account and there will be a "deauthorize all" button. You can then re-authorize the computers you're using now
Note that you can only use the "deauthorize all" option once per year, unless something's changed very recently.

Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
Question what happens once you de authorise I'm getting a new PC n just de authored my old one ... Now when I get my new PC do I need to register n re sync my content to my iPod to have my device recogniz my new PC as being the main user ?
Thanks
"Question what happens once you de authorise "
Nothing happens.
You need to copy everything to your new computer from your old one, authorize your new one, then sync the ipod.
Ah ha so I do need to re-sync in order for my new PC to recognise my device as the main user ?
Yes, but that has nothing to do with the authorization. The authorization associates the new computer with your Apple ID.
Ok so have I do the right thing ? Here kaps because essentially I am wanting to stop my old computer from being associated with my iPod meaning I don't want it linked to my old PC going this is where all ya content is throw away my crapy fried CPU get my new one n say I want you iPod to recognise this PC has all my content get it from here screw the old one n not have my iPod go we'll hang on what about your old PC that is broken you told me that's the main user/source of your content.
Um does that make sense ?
Thanks
Well, if I understand correctly after trying to sort out what you are asking - punctuation helps 🙂 - then check out this user tip from TuringTest:

and this page on "How-to Geek":

Read it but that doesn't refer to my question varjak I have my content I don't need to recover it. Hopefully a full reset n re sync will work. When my new PC arrives.
If you don't want to erase your iPod when you sync to the new computer, then what I referred you to is absolutely relevant. If you sync your iPod to an empty iTunes library, all the content on the iPod will be erased.
But again, your post was very difficulty to try to decode, so I have had to guess at your meaning.
Regards.
Well i won't lose it because unlike some ppl I have hard copies of my music/ movies so that's all good again n what people don't understand what I believe is a simple question.I am asking how do I tell my iPod my new computer is where I sync stuff to n from. not my old computer. Surely reseting n re sync will work after all the stupid thing about the new iOS is you have to re sync your entire library everytime you add something new to your iPod or at least it does when I try to add a new track unlike the old iOS which was originaly on the iPod 4.
Basically how do I tell my iPod my new PC is the main user/ central hub, storage whatever for my iPod not my old computer n save me the trouble of my iPod going this isn't the main user this isn't what I'm linked with. Where's your old PC that I was synced with.
How do I say old computer gone not syncing with no more. Meet new computer he's your best friend n you are going to sync with him. N he is your master.
Am I making sense now?
I don't understand techno bab so I'm trying to dumb it down here in what I hope ppl will understand
how do i deauthorize a computer i no longer have?
