Battery Usage

so I recently bought a macbook pro 15" quad core, and it said that it has about 7-8 hours of usage, however I'm only getting about 5hours of usage, what should I do to increase the battery usage?

And I also have to charge my macbook basically everyday, sometimes twice a day.

The projected battery charge life is not a guarantee, your individual use pattern will impact that projection. If you have all radio transmitters on, WiFi and Bluetooth, shutdown what you don't need. Reduce the frequency of the Mail push and any other searches you have going in the background. Reduce display brightness. Completel terminate all applications when you finish. And the rest of the usage from your applications you have to live with as part of computing.

If you can run on line power part of the time, do so.

Then start keeping track of beginning charge level, ending and time so you get an accurate picture of your usage.

You said, "And I also have to charge my macbook basically everyday, sometimes twice a day.". If the conditions permit, keep your MBP connected to a wall outlet. There is no need to just use the battery all the time. It will just accelerate the battery deterioration.
