ipod won't charge

My ipod touch (5th gen) isn't charging. I know it's not the cord because it charges with other devises, and it isn't the outlet because other things work with it, so it has to be the ipod itself. The charging thing is the 'lightning' i'm not sure if something is broken inside or what-not. Please answer 🙂
