I want to convert a song to Mp3 from Mp4a and keep the original file. The result is a copy of the original song as an Mp3. The iTunes instructions on the Apple web site are worthless, much like the Microsoft experience. This should be very simple.

Minds I, The conversion process changed slightly in iTunes 11. Make sure you are consulting the newest document:

"iTunes 11 for Windows: Save a copy of a song in a new file format"
