How to find My Templates and stop my Mac doing strange things

I followed the 2011 post by Peggy to find my hidden library, but it still wouldn't show 'My Templates' so that I can amend them. Meanwhile, since upgrading from Leopard 6 to Lion 8 my mac takes 3 times as long to do anything but I can find no way to revert to Leopard. Is there a way? On start-up, my Mac opens up all sorts of programs like word and console, and on closing, it has, on a few occasions, restarted itself. How do I stop such events?

Will try the shut/down start up possibilities tnx.

The Library was there but no folder named 'My Templates'. I have a folder called 'Templates in my user files along with documents, downloads, music, etc., but any Template I make is saved into the 'My Templates' Folder, which I can't find. If I want to save to 'Templates', I have to save to desktop and drag it into that folder. The My Templates folder contains all the usual, plus special templates I've made, but I cannot access them.

Already answered in my reply to Linc. Standard templates and my own designed ones. I have come across a file called 'User Template' in my searches but it tells me that I do not have permission to open it so don't know what that one is. I am using Windows .dotx templates rather than Pages, which I stopped using because none of our PCs could read them.

I don't have any problems with Pages, the templates I can't find are mainly Word Docs. I have some of my templates in the qickstart launch but still need to get to those hidden ones. I've just uninstalled Sophos, which has speeded up the computer a certain amount. 1.30 min to start up instead of 2 min and the applications open up a lot quicker. So some gains!🙂
