Beatspill speaker and macbook pro incompatible??

I am trying to use my new Beatspill minispeaker with my Macbook pro but it won't connect. it connects just fine to my Ipad but when I try to establish a connection with the laptop, first it finds it and says connected and then it disconnects immediately. Has anyone else had this problem?
