how do i activate it WITHOUT a sim card?

i have an iphone 3gs and i want to activate it but i dont have a sim card for it, and i just want to use it as an ipod. how do i activate it WITHOUT a sim card?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 6.1.2

So my iphone is a useless paperweight because I dont have a sim card? I just want to use it for tunes!

You mean that you don't know anyone who has a SIM card that you can borrow for the 5 minutes necessary to activate the phone?

You can't activate it without a SIM card. If you need a SIM card, the Apple Store will give you one for free. Just say, "I need a (carrier) SIM card" and they will send somebody to the back to get you one, for free🙂
