itunes 11.0.2 won't sync my epub book to ipad

so i got this pdf for a workout, and i converted it to an epub. i wanted to have it before a workout so i could go over what i was going to do. But it wont like go to the ipad or sync. this is my first apple product, so i don't know much about itunes and stuff. Like the epub shows up on itunes, i just cant sync it over, i got all the stuff on the ipad down to itunes. I degraded to itunes 10.6.3 and it said that the itunes was not linked to this ipad, and said i would need to format and sync or something, i hit ok and nothing happened. i have tried everything, i got the ctrl+b and ctrl+s for the menu and side bar but that doesn't really help. i thought if i drag and drop something into itunes its suppose to go to my device... 😟
