Why does Calendar not open on the right day?

My calendar app on my home screen is showing today's date (the 10th) but when I go and launch the app it always show me the next days appointments but not today's. Why? I would like to see what is happening today instead of tomorrow and the only way to achieve this is to tap on the 'Today' button. Can anyone help to overcome this please?
