Can i-phone 5 accept input from a mechanical, bluetooth keyboard?

I have looked on this forum and on youtube to see if the i-phone 5 could accept input from a external, full-size, bluetooth keyboard. A youtube video shows a guy connecting his apple wireless keyboard to his i-phone through the Settings, bluetooth, add a device. This doesn't work when I try it. Is there a way to do this? My end goal is to use my phone as a mini-computer in inpromtu meetings when I don't have a computer handy. It would be for word processing mostly. Any answers or suggestions are appreciated.
