OS X 10.8.2 Cisco ipsec client to Cisco "RV" Router Configuration

I bought a Cisco Small Business RV180 vpn/firewall router, and was naively thinking that the embeded os x vpn cisco ipsec client would be quite easy to use to establish a connection... I tried without success to configure L2TP and Cisco ipsec tunnel to the RV180, essentially because I don't have any clue about client side configuration parameters.


While testing, I had success with "unsafe" PPTP tunnel configuration to the RV180, so I really don't understand why os x refuses to establish connection using L2TP or Cisco ipsec...


Cisco support only told me to try third party client, but I would prefer to rely on native client support, as the one provided by apple in OS X.


Any help is welcome.
