Can I install Apple raid card to slot 3 (mac pro Early 2009)?

I need to install Apple RAID card to slot other than 4. Will it work?


Do i have to rebild existing raid volume?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

yes it will work. sorry to hear you have to use Apple RAID card though. Won't affect the volumes you created - of course you should have a couple backup sets anyway.

There are two models of the Apple RAID card. One has what is called an iPass cable, and can be installed in any slot.


The one for your 2009 probably does not have an iPass cable, and your Mac probably does not have a socket for it. If that is the siutation, my understanding is that it MUST be installed in slot 4.
