I'm trying to update OS X 10.8 to 10.8.1 and it says -
"OS X Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
I have no clue how to fix. I googled but could not get an answer to it. Can anybody help me please?

DL and try the 10.8.2 COMBO updater. The 10.8.1 updater is a small, minor one, not worth the hassle.

No, nothing helps. It's that drive which is not allowing me to install any update. Why so? I have done repair permission also and it repaired a series of things as well. But still no luck.
Any other suggestions?
Go to the Finder, Apple menu and select "About this Mac."
On the window that appears, click on the version number until you see Build number.
Post the build number.
Is it what needed? - OS X 10.8 (12A128p)

That build appears to be a beta version. AFAICT, 12A256 is the released version of 10.8.0. Best is to DL Mtn Lion from the MAS and try that.

I had downloaded this version from Torrent :-) So stood the problem !! And now on google search, I found it's Developer Preview 1.

Ok now I have 10.8.2 Build 12C60. And I'm going to install that now, I'll post if that comes out successfully.

It worked so well, I now have the updated version. - 10.8.2 and it's updating through AppStore also. Felt so great !!! Thanks a ton to you all for your help.
