Notes sync via iTunes (Lion) stopped working. Anyone know a fix ?

You can sync with the Notes app using IMAP or iCloud. Syncing Notes using iTunes is no longer supported on OS X v10.8 and later.

Thanks for the response. I'm aware that Mountain Lion unaccountably removed local sync for Notes (whilst retaining it for Calendar & Contacts). That's the sole reason I am still on Lion - I don't want confidential Notes data in the cloud on either an iCloud or IMAP server.
I have been syncing Notes, Calendar & Contacts between my MacBook and iPod touch just fine - both USB cable and WiFi - until I installed iTunes 11 since which time Notes sync mostly does not work (but occasionally does - such as when I re-installed iTunes after which Notes sync reappeared .. but then only for a few days). Calendar and Contacts still sync fine.
Is this a known bug ? Appreciate any thoughts on fixes. Thank you.
Can anyone recommend a Notes-like app that is locally sync-able between Mac & iOS platform ?
