is there a way to revert to previous java?

java updated and my system hangs- safari, system pref, mail...

this was the only thing that has changed in the last few days. is there a way to go backwards?

keep checking to see update will catch it and the problems will be gone, but no luck.

Java for OS X 2013-002: How to re-enable the Apple-provided Java SE 6 web plug-in and Web Start functionality.

How do I uninstall Java 7 for my Mac?
