I have a Power Mac G5, and recently I decided to add my Studio display to it for a second display. When I did that, it for some reason stopped going to sleep. It will act like it is going to sleep, but it will wake back up!! Please help!

Anything connected to the USB or Firewire on that display?
I just have my keyboard and house connected.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
/private/var/run/StartupItems
/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/LaunchDaemons
Okay so I checked all of that, and all of those locations exist, but it still fails to sleep!
Have you tried setting it to sleep & pulling the KB & Mouse out?
I have tried that and it worked! I also did a PRAM reset and that worked as well. Thanks!
So does it sleep/wake fine now with the mouse still pluggged in?
Is was sleeping with the mouse plugged in, but I had to restart for updates and now it will not sleep again! I have tried everything you recommended! I have noticed that restarting it seems to make it not sleep.
Are you using the FW or USB ports on the display?
USB ports. I don't belive that there are any fw ports on it.
Can you try it without anything plugged into the USB ports on the Monitor?
I did try that and it slept for about 30 seconds and woke itself back up, I turned off all of the wireless communications to see if that was it and it was not. Any other ideas? I would just turn it off but I have applications that I need to stay running.
Hmmmm? Apps running while sleeping??? What are they, & what are they doing?
Aprerture and Final Cut Pro are running, I Also have Mail and Safari open as well.
Well, does the same problem occur if those 4 are not running?
