Is it possible to connect/stream music from iphone to apple tv without airplay?

I am wondering if its possible to connect my iPhone5 to my AppleTv through the use of homesharing, rather than use airplay. It seems like homesharing only works from my MacBook to the AppleTv, and will not work from my iPhone to Apple Tv.
