parallells password forgotten

I have OSX 10.8.2

When I bought my new iMac I had windows stuff on previous PC. I therefore bought Parallels 7 and loaded on my Mac. I haven't referred to the Winows items for a while but recently attempted to access Parallels desktop was unable to access due to password not being accepted. I had entered the password I had written down. Please I would be grateful if anyone has a method of recovering the password.

Many thanks

iPhone 5, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), iMac

And if you're referring to the password to your user account in Windows, that's not even a Parallels problem, it's a Windows problem. Cracking/resetting a Windows user password is not a simple process, but if you ask on a Windows-oriented support web site, someone may have suggestions. It will be easier to just create a new VM in Parallels and reinstall Windows, though, so pursuing cracking of the account would be worthwhile only if you have files in Windows that you need and cannot replace.

Regards.

...When I switch to Parallels desktop to access Windows 7, that is the problem. Is this someting for a Windows forum? Do I go to Parallels to question how to re-install Parallels and then re install Windows 7 from my original disc.

When are you asked for the password? Do you have Parallels set up to boot Windows when you start Parallels and is it Parallels that's asking for a password or Windows? If it's Windows, you might take a look at this thread on the Parallels forum: http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=259279. The best explanation seems to be in post #15.

The screen came up with password required as I attempted to sign in to Parallels to use windows 7.

I looed at reply toquery nuimber 15 and will try that

When you do, also take a look at post #6. That post seems to offer a way to get around the password problem long enough to change it. As a long term VMware Fusion user, this is a learning experience for me, too.

Thanks-If I get Parallels 8 do you think all will be fine. No wish to upgrade if that will be blocked also.

In digging deeper your Windows7 should run on Parallels7 on OSX 10.8 with the latest build of Paralles7.

It is Windows8 that requires the upgrade to Paralles8.

I believe your best bet is to follow FatMac\>MacPro. link to the Parallels forum.
