Q: Can't transfer photos from iPhone to PC?

Hi,

I'm trying to transfer some photos from my iphone 5 to my windows 7 PC; I haven't done this before.

I've tried two methods of doing this, but neither seem to be working!

method 1 - plug in iphone to pc. I get the autoplay come up. I click import photos. But I get a message saying something like 'no new photos found', so nothing happens. (remember, I haven't backed up my photos before, so all my photos should be 'new'!)

method 2 - I plug the iphone into the pc. And i go to computer > view devices and i open 'apple iphone'. then there's a DCIM folder (which should contain the photos, I'm guessing, because that's how i view photos from my normal camera). But the DCIM folder is empty.

Could someone please help me out? I have done my best to search how to do this, but noone else seems to have had this problem but me!

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for this as you helped me solve my problem today. My computer use to download photos automatically until yesterday. This solved my issue about how to do it.

Congrats! To download photos from iPhone to computer has not only one way. iTunes is very common but useful. But I wan to recommend iCloud to do this transferring. Connect your iPhone with wi-fi and then, turn to "Settings“ > "iCloud" to turn on the on/off toggle. Choose backup to backup your iPhone data automatically. On the other hand, you can turn into backup now to do icloud backup manually, so you could reget them with the same apple ID and passcode. This way can transfer your photos from iPhone to computer successfully.

This works better than the other solutions as APPLE100 doesn't appear as a folder in the latest iOS. Thanks.

A friend bought me a case/battery pack combo. I didn't realize the charging cable that came with would not let my IPhone 5 sync with iTunes or allow me to transfer vids & pics to my pc.

I had given my original cable to a friend. Soooo. After reading apple supports comment about case/battery pack combo problems. I bought a new IPhone 5 cable & now everything works fine...

NOTE: I can only access pics & vids shot on my IPhone or another IPhone. Pics & vids that were transfered to my Iphone from my old LG phone are not accessable, why? I don't know. These pics & vids I will upload to Dropbox & download on my pc...

Very frustrated and getting extremely angry now!! What used to be a simple and quick thing to do is now getting me extremely cross!  I cannot copy my photos from my iphone 6 to my pc (windows 7) now since upgrading to icloud photos.  When i plug in my iphone to my computer, several folders are there, but with only one photo in each, then the last folder has a few photos in.  Importing the photos via windows explorer has only copied 101 pictures and videos on to my computer - there are almost 400 on my phone.  I cannot for the life of me work out how to get the rest of my photos and videos.  When I go to icloud photos on the web, they are all there - however you can't select all and copy and paste.  It is an absolute nightmare.  Please if anyone can help me I will be extremely grateful.  I though Apple were meant to be simplifying the photo transfer with icloud photos, not making it a million times more complicated and frustrating! Thanks in advance!

Use iTunes to transfer or download iCloud app on your PC.

    I have a similar (I think) problem.

Old iPhone 4, has 44 files in DCIM folder that I can transfer to Macbook or PC.

But there is also a folder on the phone with 224 pictures with name DCIM, also says from My Computer.

I cannot transfer these as they are "greyed out" on iTunes and simply not visible in folders.

They are old pictures, but I cannot find them on my old storage files.
Want to sell the phone but don't want to lose the pics if I can't find the other copy.

Is there a way to move them from this phone to another computer?

I have not been able with several attempts.

Thanks for the help if you can.

Thank you. You're right, I followed the link for Windows 8 and was able to do it:

Windows 8: Learn how to import photos and videos from a camera, phone, or DVD (Windows Help)

Windows 8.1 and Windows 10: Learn how to get pictures from your camera to your computer (Windows Help)

    1. One simple way is as follows
      1. Connect the iPhone to the PC
      2. Control Panel -> click on Computer -> look for the iPhone device -> right-click and select "Import pictures and videos"

I was trying to upload my pictures from my iPad to my computer running Windows 7. Kept getting the message that there were no new pictures or videos on the device. I plugged in the iPad and unlocked it. I went to Start on Windows and clicked Computer. I double clicked my device under Portable Devices. That opens an icon called Internal Storage. I double-clicked that and it opened the  DCIM file folder icon.I double-clicked that and it opened the 100APPLE file folder

icon. I double-clicked that, and, voila!, there were my pictures. Some were rotated the wrong way and I couldn't rotate them using the photo viewer. So I had to copy and paste them all to my pictures library. Then I was able to rotate them with the photo viewer. Can anything so basic be made any more difficult and complicated? Nevertheless, that worked for me.

I have a similar problem. I have hard-wired iphone 5 to pc. I phone is unlocked (before anyone asks!). I can see 330 photos on iphone, but navigating through iphone on windows it says there are no files to view. I had clicked to import them and it imported about 20 and did not erase them from phone either. I have successfully downloaded photos before from iphone to PC but this time, the PC just cannot see them at all. Why would that be? As a matter of interest icloud drive was on, but even when turned off still nothing. Very weird and very frustrating, anyone have a solution?

I have the same issue about photos. I'm trying to import photos of my fathers iPhone 6 to computer but it only sees 97 of them amongs 1400. Although when I try this with my iPhone 5 there is no problem with it. Before this update I was able to took photos from his phone to computer without any problem. This problem is really bothersome. It would be good if there is a solution for this!

I found the reason of the problem and a solution but it is really not a good one. I think it's because of this latest update, photos and videos in the phone are not really in the phone or something like that. When you open a video or photo from your gallery, there is a loading sign in the below. After the loading is done, you can see that photo or video in your computer. So in order to import all the photos and videos in your phone, you need to open them one by one and wait for their upload(???) but doing that takes a lot of time so we need real solution for this problem.

I found the reason of the problem for iOS 9.3.1.  Go to Settings -> Photos & Camera, If your iCloud Photo Library is open then there are two options under it. First one uploads original photos to iCloud and kept only small image of the original and second one keeps the original in the phone. Chose second option and go to Photos, you need to wait until all the photos are uploaded to your phone. Close the Auto-lock so the upload wouldn't be interfered. After all photos are uploaded to your phone, you can import them to your computer.

I just plugged my iPhone 5s in to copy photos to my PC which is Windows 10. It does not bring up the usual "file" I can drag and drop them to my "photos" folder. It was updated just last week to the iOS9.3.1. I followed the instructions in the comment just above, going to my Photos & Camera, and looked at iCloud Photo Library, which is not open. So I can't see now where to go from here to get the photos to my PC. I do have the iCloud Photo Sharing open. Where do I do to be able to move photos to the file I want them in? Thank you!
