I cannot access my windows computer from new iMac using remote desktop or App from App Store! I have called and received no support from apple or windows

Please help with connecting a new iMac to an office windows based computer. I have checked everything and neither apple or microsoft support remote connections live.

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)
