How can I get the scanner to work on my Canaon MP 830? Printer works fine.

Will this work on a Maverick? I tried something else someone suggested and made my new computer go nuts till I shut down. Don't want it to do anything weird. There is no information from hamrick on it that I can see.
Vuescan should work & has never been a problem. 🙂
