How do you gently move tracks in garageband? Ive spent hours upon hours trying to simply move complete tracks to the right or left with precision but it jumps or wants to introduce flex timing?

Garageband is giving me a **** of time, I actually regret buying this mac so anyone out there who knows the struggle/effort it takes to write originals and then have that work fight to simply be recorded HELP ME!!! Im not making records their demos its that simple.

I just want to scoot entire tracks gently to the right or left with precision. Dragging them makes them jump even when I open the track editor pop up menu and they are under the microscope nothing moves softly its like they are attached to a magnet. Garageband wants to introduce a flex timing option which I dont understand or have use for. These tracks were prerecorded to a click and are good enough for demos sake but I cant use a bunch wave forms in a system that stumbles. Just want to select a track and softly nudge it with sensitivity.

PLEASE HELP I AM OLD SCHOOL AND KEEP IT SIMPLE ONE MIC ONE TAKE... JUST WANT TO MOVE TRACKS GENTLY!

I had the same problem, but could not find the menus and fixes that were suggested. I finally figured out that if you zoom your tracks in so you are looking at a much smaller part of the track in your window, then sliding with your mouse is much more precise and you can easily line up tracks with each other. The zoom function is option-control-left arrow and option-control-right arrow. Once you zoom your tracks, use the Editor (command-E) to see your waveforms and clicks real easy.

Garageband is terrible. Its not made for musicians its made for geeks/programing midi hobbyist. Tracking is simple and mac has really screwed that up its ITS "PLUG AND PLAY" NOT PLUG SPEND HOURS LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS AND BEING DEFEATED on a $2000.00 laptop that is supposedly known for being intuitive. Forget it.

Thanks for your help community members but I am just going to put mac on speed dial and call them everytime my mac looks at me funny.

More importantly: turn off the "snap to grid" and the "show guide lines" functions (cmd-g, cmd-shift-g) in the Control menu. And in the Editor window, only move the regions by placing the cursor on the upper edge (it will turn into a <|> shape.) Otherwise you will move little snippets of the audio, and the whole flex time thing will start up which you don't want.

Ma those are great suggestions but I had already done them all.........except the top left not center drag, that worked very well for one track and the track directly underneath did not behave in the same manner it would jump everywhere with the same precautions I took scooting the track directly above it. So nothing is consistent.

These are previously recorded wav files compressed into itunes at the correct sizes.....just will not work. A crappy PC and a pirated copy of adobe audition never gave me so much grief anymore suggestions anyone. I appreciate all the help I can get.
