Can't import .mov into brand new iPhoto on a brand new MacBook Pro Retina 15"

I finally bought my Mac today and plugged my external hard drive into it. I imported all my photos (taken on my iPhone 4/4S/5) into it, no problem. After it finished, I had a HUGE list of all my videos recorded on these same phones that "could not be imported into iPhoto." I tried manually dragging them, nothing, they PLAY fine, but just won't add to my library!
