Why are the edges of Macbook Pro so sharp ?
On a few occasions while working on the laptop, I cut my fingers and side of my hands.
Is there any way I can prevent this ? Thanks.

So much for your advice on ergonomics, considering that you don't understand the meaning of the word. Ergonomics does not refer to the way a person uses a machine or is present in an environment - it means the way an environment is designed to interact with human dimensions and behaviors.
So your answer is simply wrong and foolish.
I don't believe that it is physically possible to actually cut yourself on the edge. It's not that sharp!
As to preventing other types of injury from the sharp edge, note that your wrists really are not supposed to be resting on the edge. Good ergonomics would require that you have the laptop in a position where you could type with your forearms parallel to the floor and your wrists not resting on the machine. Using a laptop of any kind on a desk that is at a normal height for such tasks as writing is ergonomically unsound.
You can buy various kinds of plastic cases from Apple stores and other computer accessory shops that will both protect your mac from knocks and your hands from damage.
For example:

There are many many others on the market. I'm sure you'll find one that works for you.

Congratulations, you've proven that you've never heard of ergonomics regarding the use of computers. Something that has been discussed by computer professionals and physicians for decades.
A simple Google search will turn up millions of such related articles. Do a little reading.

You also seem to be for some reason posting in threads that are months or even years old only to castigate a poster. Not at all helpful, not to mention being extremely rude.
