I cannot change/edit my incoming mail server - I get an invalid incoming mail server message

For some reason, I get an I get an "invalid incoming mail server message" when I tried to edit the name of my me.com account.

The box is grey and I cannot edit it.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 15" 2.3 GHZ Core i7

And that is even after...

Mail > Preferences.
Uncheck (deselect) the "Use Autodiscovery Service" checkbox above the Internal and External server settings. When Autodiscovery is unchecked, the Internal and External mail server addresses can be edited.
