Q: Files not found after migration to new Mac

Hi,

On my old Mac, under Snow Leopard, my installation was complete and everything worked fine.

Then, when I bought a new Mac (with Mountain Lion installed) I had to use Migration Assistant to restore my Time Machine Backup, which included my Logic Pro installation.

Now when I try to use Logic Pro I often get these "Audio file ... not found!" messages (see example).

How can I fix this?

Many thanks!

    Hi

If all that is "missing" is 3 files for 3 sampler instruments, it might be worth opening them up in the EXS Editor and manually "finding the files"

    eg:

Steinway Piano: p4 group, zone#199. Click on teh disclosure triangle next to the filename and Load the sample.

You may need to re-save the EXS instrument?

Yes, that would seem to be the next step to try...

However, I am still trying to work out why those three samples are not recognised in the first place...(given the rest of the samples for each instrument, in the same locations, are....)

    Any ideas CCT?

Thanks, but unfortunately I had no success, so I decided to delete Logic and GarageBand completely.

I used the list given here: http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30524

and searched for other files using "Find any file".

Then I restarted and downloaded GarageBand from the App Store (incl. In-App-Download).

Next is the Logic download from the App Store (Basic Installation).

I already have downloads of those 19GB additional content packages (according to http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2972851/logic-downloads-fixed.html) and want to install this and all my Macs.

The question now is, do I need to install the "GarageBand Content" (again)?

Or is it already available for Logic from the GarageBand installation?

    Many thanks.

I would install the extra GB content...

There have been a copuple of instances where doing so, seems to fix a couple of weird problems.. (along with reindexing the Loops in GB too, which is an even weirder fix for a Logic issue.. but thatbone does work!)

You will probably end up with a few duplicates in two different folders  but but i think the possible benefits outweigh the small amount (in relative terms) of extra disk space taken up..

    As an aside,

I have no idea if that Dropbox collection (which I suspect is actually an illegal collection in the sense that it would be against the License terms of Logic Pro for the original uploader to place them on dropbox) is complete or not... so...

    downloader beware...

    Thanks, I'll do it.

BTW The files are not on DropBox - just the links to the Apple.com addresses, where they are.

Ah.. well, in which case, my thanks as that could be quite useful for those having issues downloading the extra content from inside of Logic.... and, of course,  I withdraw my comments about the legality of the links themselves.

Just a short feedback: It worked.  * Everything * back to normal again.
