Messages with certain words appear in white bold font w/drop shadow

ever since i upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion, and was converted to Messages/iMessages from iChat, i've had this strange occurance i cannot figure out.

in any message i receive from anybody (not in messages i send), whenever the word "me" or "Jason" is used (Jason is my name), no matter what the display font attributes, those two words appear in White text, Bolded font, with a Drop Shadow.

obviously this isn't the end of the world or anything, but it bugs me that i can't figure it out & make it stop.

anybody got any ideas?

Preferences --> Messages --> Watch for my name in incoming messages. Uncheck. Bam. =)

HI,

I presume you have an account on one of your computers where the My Card is called "me" ?

Actually I am having hard time trying to see why Me and Jason are both highlighted.

Ah... yes, i do. in my Contacts for myself, i put "me" in as the "nickname" for when i need to quickly CC or BCC myself on something, i can just type in "me then tab" to get it done. 😀

I am having this issue, except that I am on Mavericks with the new Messages client. I recall checking this box back when I was on iChat, but now that I want to uncheck it, the preference is no longer available in Messages.

What can I do?
