iPhone5 backup restore

A week ago I setup my iPhone5 as a new phone instead of restoring from iTunes. Now after a week I want to restore the iphone4 backup I previously made but cannot seem to do this with iTunes.

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.1

What IOS version was your iphone 4? if the IOS is lower than the iphone 5, you will need to update the 4 and then backup and then you can restore your 5 to that backup.

The iphone4 has the latest software but the iPhone5 is iOS 6.0.1. When I have the phone5 plugged into iTunes I cannot use the restore backup option, however, my iphone4 backup can be restored when I have it plugged into iTunes.
