Q: File copy fails from ARD 3.6.1 to client running 10.6.8 (3.5.3).

When I attempt a copy the copy routine thinks the filed is already present eventhough it is not. No matter which choice you select (replace, or rename) the copy fails. I had this problem with newer machines running Lion and it was resolved when I upgraded to Moutain Lion but these machines can't be upgraded beyond Snow Leopard.

I have eliminated almost all of our  older machines but I did locate on old G4 Mac Mini still on the network.  I had no trouble copying from my admin desktop to the mini so it is capable of receiving the copy.  That worked with both a drag from Desktop to desktop and using the Copy function.  The client machine was running ARD 3.4 while the Admin was 3.61 Admin.

Is your older systems G4, G5 or early Intel versions and that is why you can not update them?  Or is it lack of storage or memory?

What type of file are you trying to copy?

Have you cleaned out the cache files?

Have you restarted both the ARD Admin and client machines?

Have you repaired permissions on the receiving machines?

Have you updated the ARD client to current version?  Same question for the Admin system.

Do you use the "Copy" button or do you just drag the file from the Admin machine to the location you want it in on the client machine (Desktop, Documents, Other) folder?

Have you did a full uninstall of the client ARD and all of its associated files, and reinstalled and updated a new version of ARD client?  You may have to look back a ways for the older versions of ARD client that you would need.  The later versions won't work on the older systems such as yours.
