I have a 21.5 in mid 2011 imac with a 2.5 GHz intel i5 processor.

the memory is 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. I am looking to upgrade the memory. How do I do it and how much $$$. I would prefer the genius bar to do it, but I can do it.🙂🙂

Maximum Memory32 GB (Actual) 16 GB (Apple)
Memory Slots4 - 204-pin PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

The above is the maximum amount and type of RAM you can install. Installing is quite simple. If you lay your computer on it's back you should see what looks like a grill on the rim you wills see. Remove the two screws you see on each side of the grill to reveal the memory slots - four of them. Two of them are filled with your 4 GBs of RAM. You can either add two more modules in the empty slots or replace all the slots with different modules. Preferably RAM should be added in matched pairs.

You will find these instructions in your computer's user manual.
