I have an iweb 2008 version and can put it in a folder but the next window does not appear 'site publishing settings' how do I retrieve this?
I have a webhost 'crazy domains' FTP address etc

iWeb 08 can only publish to MobileMe or to a folder.
With MMe gone only the publish to folder option is left.
Use an ftp application to upload the folder and the index.html file to your server.
Thanks Wyodor but I do not have the pop up folder for the site publishing settings which will let me put in the information for the FTP application to upload to a server..

Since you mention iWeb 2008, I assume you have iWeb 08 aka iWeb 2.0.4
You can only publish to a folder.
It's in the menu.

From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contentsof the folder to your server. Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
You should note that while your version of iWeb works OK in Lion, you may have problems with it if you upgrade to Mountain Lion. If you want to continue using iWeb in that event, you will need to purchase iLife '09 or '11 box from Amazon or another independent retailer: both contain the later version of iWeb which also will publish directly using FTP.
I have put the iweb into a file.
I do not have the 'new connection' option in my file menu..

And now I'm going to figure out how to put the iWeb into a file.
