How do you download Wamcom Mozilla Mail?

Hello,

This question would be for anyone familiar with the Wamcom version of Mozilla [1].
I have used this Wamcom version of Mozilla for OS 9 for a few years now and I have realized there may be some patches available to fix some of its bugs. It's a great email program - perhaps the best email program available for OS 9. However, it has a few bugs and it crashes sometimes especially when you scroll quickly thought many emails or scroll down quickly on a web page. And so I have realized that maybe all these years I have been using the wrong version - or at least I wasn't aware there were patches to some of these problems. Their website is difficult to sort out as to exactly what you are supposed to download in terms of patches and what patches go with what download. ANd how to apply the patches.

Here is the download I originally used for a few years:
wamcom-131-macos9-20030723.sit
Which patches are to be additionally downloaded? Are .tar.gz files unstuffable in stuffit? I just need a little direction as to what to download.

Thanks!

rainforest...

As far as the crashing goes it may help to assign more memory to the Application.

See >---> http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=18278

BTW... Tip is to adjust the Maximum first (bottom figure) before the Minimum (upper figure), otherwise it errors that Minimum exceeds Maximum.

"Which patches are to be additionally downloaded? "

Only the one "fix for macos9-20030721".

Important note is to look at the link carefully as macos9 portition tells you what OS it is for. The 20030721 is short for YYYY-DD-MM (Year-Day-Month)

"Are .tar.gz files unstuffable in stuffit?"

Sorry, those do not apply to Mac OS 9, so I would forgit those.

Thanks Ron,

Good points. I had already assigned Mozilla plenty of RAM - three to four times the suggested amount - but I appreciate your point.

In regards to this page again:
http://wamcom.org/latest-131/

I still don't really understand the relationship between the main download (wamcom-131-macos9-20030723.sit) and the "Information, sources and patches" found a little lower down on the page:

"Information, sources and patches"
This file lists (most) of the included correctness fixes and other backported patches from the ongoing Mozilla development.
wamcom-131-fixes-20030624-list.txt
Is this important to know for OS9 users or does it point to another fix that OS9 users need?

And are these downloads that are found lower down on the page required for OS9 users?:
20030613-features-patches.tar.gz
wamcom-131-20030710-patches.tar.gz

Even if I can't unstuff tar.gz files in OS9 I could try to open them on my other mac with Tiger - if I knew they were necessary or helpful. But I am not sure what they are or if if I need them.

In any case, at this point, if I understand this page correctly (thanks to Ron) I think I will first download:
wamcom-131-macos9-20030723.sit
and then add the small fix listed beside it called: macos9-20030721

I find it odd that the apparent reversed dates of these downloads lead one to believe that the fix was made after the download. One would think that the download would have been created first followed by the fix later.

In any case, I hope this will fix the problems (especially the scroll/crash problems) that I originally had when I first tried this wamcom version on OS 9 a few months ago. I don't think I used the small fix however and maybe that is why I had these problems.
