can't see Xerox 6015NI (MFP) in Image Capture. Downloaded the lates driver for 10.8 but now lost !

The printer works but the scanner is no where to be found in image capture. Trying to set up to scan to a folder pn the iMac is also a dead loss!

The latest drivers package reports that there is an application called Express Scan Manager LE.app placed inside the Applications folder. Have you tried with that.

How did you configure the network scanning?

If I click on the Express Scan Manager LE app I get a dialogue box that asks me to configure where the scanned file(s) should go - provide the path. As per the set up instructions I created a folder called 'Scans' which is a shared folder within the 'Documents" folder. This is '/Users/David/Documents/Scans'. OK -ing that produces nothing.

Network scanning is supposed to be set up using the folder mentioned above, then entering it in the Address Book via Centreware IS. Trouble is completing this:

User uploaded file

If I initiate a scan at the machine it 'sees' the folder called Scans but is unable to log in to the Mac to place it. I thought I'd forget about this and just try to use Image Capture! Seem to be going in circles!

OK, I have a funny feeling that the SMB protocol has not been updated but let's go with your assumption.

I think the terminology may have been confusing me. Scans is the shared folder but the directory is documents which contains folders. I'll change this and try it.

My account name is David Clark - I'll change this too. Thanks for the help so far, appreciated.

One last try before abandoning SMB.

Into Login Name box, put your account shortname not the full name. The shortname matches the name of your home folder.

If that doesn't work either, you must use FTP.

Enable FTP service in OS X Lion and Mountain Lion

I don't remember the FTP form, but I think is pretty similar to the SMB form.

If you are unsure how to compile it, post here a screenshot.

I guess you're italian! Me too :-)

Yes I am 😀

This is how you must fill in the CentreWare web address book entry for FTP

  • Name: Let's say Paolametro
  • Network Type: Select Server FTP
  • Host Address: Enter the IP address or DNS name of your Mac
  • Port Number: Enter the default port number for FTP, 21
  • Login Name: if your Mac's username is paolametro type paolametro
  • Password: Enter paolametro's password
  • Re-enter Password: Enter the password again
  • Name of Shared Directory: If you want the scan to go to Pictures' folder, type Pictures
  • Subdirectory Path: If you made a folder named Scanner inside the Pictures folder, type /Scanner

I have spent the day on the phone with Xerox. They say smb does not work, and to use ftp. FTP does work for me, but it dumps everything in my home directory, even though I entered scans.

However, the 6015NI manual claims we should be able to use Image Capture, which still does not see the printer as a scanner. Nor does the Print and Scan setting in System Properties. It should be listed as both a Fax and a scanner there--this is the fundamental problem.

There is lots of nice software included with the printer for Windows, but nothing for OS X. And the manual is useless.

As Alberto has shown, with FTP you need to set the path to the folder in the address book. For example, if the Scans folder is located under the Desktop, then the path would be /Desktop/Scans

As for using Image Capture, the 6015Ni would need an ICA driver to be used with this application. Apple does not appear to have an ICA driver for this printer so you would need to check if Xerox has one.

And for the Fax component to be present in Print and Scan, you would require a fax driver to be installed. Then if you selected to add the 6015Ni again, you should see an entry for the printer AND an entry with Fax. Selecting this and linking it to the Fax driver would then give you a new "Printer" that can be used for faxing from the Mac.
