Although my Logitetch webcam (which works with Skype) shows a light when I open Face Time, nothing happens for about a minute, then I get a dialogue reading "FaceTime has not received any video from the connected camera. Restarting your computer may fix this issue". But restarting doesn't help, nor does SMC reset.User uploaded file

(1) Be sure you don't try to have both Skype and FaceTime open.

The easiest way I know to ensure this is to verify that neither is a Login iTem. Then restart Mac, launch ONLY FaceTime, and test FaceTime again.

(2) If your FT trouble remains, consider http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4185 and

Thanks for your reply. Neither is a login item. I do make sure Skype is off when I try FaceTime. I'm connected via ethernet.

The problem seems to be that the application is not seeing the camera.

I requested support, but the response has only been to point me to the FaceTime troubleshooting links - which I read before posting here. And it was suggested I may have to pay for phone support for a 99¢ application.

As I understand your response, FaceTime seems to be the only trouble you are having.

The next things to try (in this order) are:

(1) Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions. Thenreinstall your FaceTime app.

Repair permissions again immediately following the reinstall. Then test FT function.

• If the FT problem continues, try (2) as follows.

(2) Try relevant Apple troubleshooting: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

(Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

• Be sure to test more than one Apple app in more than one user account.

• If those suggestions do not help you, (the "reset" suggested there

often restores normal function,) continue with the following.

• Restart Mac and then use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.

Now download and apply the latest Combo Update for yourMac OS 10.6:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

• Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart

that completes the Combo update.

Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes cure software problems.
