Music transfer from ipod

My itunes crashed a few weeks ago on my old computer and I couldn't figure out how to restore it. Now I have a new laptop and I would like to transfer the music on my ipod onto it except I can't get anything to transfer. Is there a way to get all the music on my ipod onto my computer without access to my original itunes? Normally I would just deal with it except half my ipod is from cd's I borred from my friend who now lives 5 states away so I don't have easy access to those albums anymore.
