Help! Yahoo Messenger for Mac issues

Okay, firstly, I have just brought my very first Mac, & already love it more than any of my PC's.

I have two questions, Firstly. I have downloaded the most recient version of yahoo for mac from the official yahoo site, installed fine. but I cannot change my profile image. I can browse & select a new one, but it doesn't update the image. How do I fix this? Also in the IM box, the display images are huge, and distorted, and only half the image is showing.

Secondly, all my contacts are showing as their yahoo usernames, how do I edit these so that their names are displayed? I have tried clicking "get info" and changing it on the info card, but when I click to enter, the fields go blank.

I have tried searching for answers on google, and haven't found anything that helps, I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, emptying cache & prefrences. Still no luck. Hoping someone out there can help me out.
