Q: iphoto was preinstalled on my iMac, do i have to pay to upgrade so i can use photo stream?

Do i need to pay to access photo stream?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

You can upgrade iPhoto from clicking App Store, Updates and if an update appears just go ahead and update your iPhoto...no charge for that.

Photo stream as part of iCloud is free to you.

Depends... If the most recent version of iPhoto (iPhoto 11) is there, then no, if you have earleier versions then yes you'll need to buy an upgrade. Some photo stream features require 10.8 so you may need to purchase that too.
