You don't need to extend the Thunderbolt display's cable. You can connect to the computer using a long cable from the display's Thunderbolt port.
If you do need to connect two Thunderbolt cables, use a Thunderbolt disk drive with two Thunderbolt ports.

Thanks ... I needed to place a monitor a good distance away (15'). Instead of using just the monitor, I attached it to my MacBook Pro and used Screen Sharing in "observe only" mode. Worked fine for the purpose (I'm a photographer, shooting tethered - the client requested the second monitor to observe without a crowd...) I appreciate the help!
