iMovie inputs deleted recordings instead of new recording

Im trying to do a narration over my movie. When delete a recording clip and try recording a new one, instead of putting what I just recorded in the movie, it puts in an old recorded clip that I deleted.

For example I messed up a word when recording, so I delete that recorded clip, and try recording again. But instead of putting the new one there, it puts the old one back in - no matter how many times I delete it and try again. I even tried recording right over it and it still put the same old recording there.

Somebody please help its getting so frustrating!! 😕 😟
