I just bought an Squire Fender USB Guitar. When I load the Garageband and plug the guitar (via the USB provided cable), can't hear the guitar on the Mac. Then I put ad ear phones on the guitar, and I can hear sound, but I am unable to record anything...
I'm missing some step?

What happens if you start recording? Do you get any waveform in the track?
If you drop a audio loop in the track can you hear that from the guitar headphone output?
When i start a recording, it records the guitar and shows a waveform in the track.
As I said, I can hear the sounds through the guitar headphone, but the iMac speakers are dead (muted when i plug the guitar).
Could be this the "normal" way to work when the squier usb guitar? I was expecting that my Guitar + Mac works as a normal guitar + amplifier combo...
Go to Garageband > Preferences > Audio Midi and choose the iMac speakers for output.
You can monitor from the guitar or the iMac.
😟 Doesn't work: I'm unable to monitor from the iMac. As you can see, the audio icon seems to be grayed.
Could be a guitar problem?

You have the correct settings. You sure you have monitoring turned on?
Do you have anything plugged into the iMac's headphone jack. Try plugging headphones into the mac, can you hear the guitar?
