I NEED HELP ASAP!

i backedup my ipod4th gen. to my laptop. i got a new ipod, and wanted to put my old ipod's info on my new ipod, but itunes said i had to update it first. i did, and now it wont give me the option to put my old ipod's info to my new ipod.HELLLPPPPPP :'(
