The thing is, if i update my ipod the ipod won't sync untill i update the itunes. just to let you know, when i try to restore my ipod it says "Are you sure you want to restore the iPod “daniels ipod” to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of the iPod software will be installed."

The thing is i don't want to update either, is there anyway around the update but i can still restore?

If you can backup your iPod and copy media to your computer by using the instructions here:

Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities

Then nothing will be lost. When the article says restore from backup your iPod will be updated.

If you can't access the iPod via your computer then your media will be lost.

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
