Transfer files on windows partition

i have a transfer cable but wen i plug it into my mac it says go bridge is not running. so i booted up my windows 7 partition and tried to copy files to my mac partition through my windows 7 one but it said access denied. how do i get permission to transfer files to my mac partition?
