10.8.3 - sleep/wake up troubles

Ok, it was working just great before the update.

Now, I close Macbook Pro lid, LED goes up to the maximum, I open lid, LED is blinking and screen is black.

It does not wake up before I press power button a few times and the after 30-40 seconds it comes back to life

Any advices?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Try booting into the Safe Mode and testing there to see if it does the same thing. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

It is usually things like anti-virus programs, MacKeeper, and other utility programs. Since applications install various files, try to find instructions on how to uninstall rather than just deleing the application itself. Some programs come with uninstallers as part of the program package. You may have to download the program again to see if there is an uninstall program.

It is probably a long shot, but try rebuilding the permissions on your user folder.

To do this, boot to your Recovery partition (holding down the Command and R keys while booting) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In Terminal, type: 'resetpassword' (without the 's) and select the admin user. You are not going to reset your password. Click on the icon for your Macs hard drive at the top. From the drop down below it select the user account which is having issues. At the bottom of the window, you'll see an area labeled Restore Home Directory Permissions and ACLs. Click the reset button there. The process takes a few minutes. When complete, restart.
