My updates do not seem to actually update my computer?

Hi there,

I have been desperately trying to update Safari as I cannot properly use hotmail now with my current version.

When I click on the apple sign, and 'software update' it lists 11 updates that need installing - none of which is Safari even though mine is version 4.0.3.

Anyway, when I click 'Install' it tells me to click 'Restart' as this will complete the update. After it has restarted, nothing seems to have updated - when I click on 'software update' again exactly the same 11 updates are listed as needing installing!

Firstly, why is this? Secondly, how can I update Safari?
