Scrolling Subtitles Effect

I've been trying to add scrolling subtitles to a video clip where someone speaks so softly that it is barely audible. When I've tried to do this, the audio stops working. Does anyone know how to do this, or even further, how to time the subtitles to show up when he's speaking those words? Any tips would be great. Thanks for the help!

Brilliant idea! That works perfectly. Now I'm just trying to figure out if there's any way to put a pause in between the different titles that I'll be typing on there. I know how to lengthen the amount of time it stays on the screen, but is there any way to put a pause where there is no text at all?

The only thing that I've thought of is to put multiple subtitles, and then just add blank spaces in between to lengthen the amount of time that there is between subtitles. This is kind of tedious, and not exact in terms of timing, so I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

Thanks again Adam!!
