Stolen ipod classic... How do you report it to apple?

It's the 2nd time for me in the last 5 years... I'm so mad and the convoluted way of getting your serial number for a lost device is not helping... SO if anyone can explain it, I can follow the directions well.

Thank you

iPod classic 160GB (Late 2009), Robbed!

There are instructions on these two page for how you might be able to find its serial number :

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1459

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4061

e.g. by logging into https://supportprofile.apple.com/

or on your computer's iTunes opening Edit > Preferences and on the Devices tab hovering your mouse pointer over the iPod's backup.

You can then give the serial number to the police, Apple themselves don't log/track stolen devices
